Head coach Andy Reid had some midweek Chiefs injury updates to share on Wednesday morning.
The Kansas City Chiefs are staying in town a little longer as the team won’t depart for Germany until Thursday.
That leaves some internal team drills for everyone to prepare for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, a game that could have implications for seeding the playoffs in the next few months.
Wednesday morning, head coach Andy Reid began providing injury updates to several of his players in the media.
Outfielder Willie Gay Jr.
and defensive back Jerick McKinnon will not participate in practice on Wednesday.
Gay, who recorded 29 tackles for loss last weekend against the Denver Broncos and recorded three tackles, suffered a tailbone injury.
When asked if the fourth-year big man was a likely candidate on injured reserve, Reid said Gay should avoid being on the roster.

Even if he doesn’t return to practice, that bodes well for his availability, even if he’s sidelined this week.
McKinnon recently had to deal with a groin injury.
The illness prevented him from training last Thursday, although he participated fully on Wednesday and Friday.
He played through pain or discomfort in Week 8, against Denver three times.
The lack of participation on Wednesday was just a precaution by the team, as McKinnon is one of the oldest players on the roster and a regular on the injury report.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes battled the flu last weekend, but still played on Sunday, despite having one of his worst performances of the season.
The superstar signalman also had his hand stepped on during the match, forcing the coaching staff to put on gloves to end the match.
The good news for Mahomes is that Reid said he has no symptoms and his hand is feeling better.
Finally, training opportunities are officially open for Richie James.
The veteran hasn’t played since Week 2 due to a knee injury, and earlier this week, he and the Chiefs reportedly explored trade possibilities.

After the trade deadline, the 28-year-old now has 21 days of practice eligibility before the team must fully activate him from IR and add him to the active roster.
Further injury reports this week will shed more light on each player’s respective injury.
