The Buffalo Bills aren’t even halfway through the season, yet their injury report is already a mile long.
Buffalo has lost some of its most important players, like defensive end Tre’Davious White and defensive end Matt Milano, all year.
Other key players, like Dawson Knox, were out for a while due to injury, but not the entire season.
Even quarterback Josh Allen suffered nagging injuries throughout the season, as did several other players.
To see how much damage has affected the Bills, just look at this key stat.
According to Spotrac, the Bills currently have more than $35 million, or 16.
03% of their salary cap, in injured reserves, both of which are the highest in the league.
White represents by far the team’s largest cap hit, with a cap hit of over $16 million and 7.
13% of the salary cap.
Milano and defensive tackle DaQuan Jones are also seeing significant success, taking 3.
11% and 3.
77% of the cap, respectively.
The other four players on IR, running back Damien Harris, offensive lineman Tommy Doyle, wide receiver Justin Shorter and tight end Zach Davidson, all accounted for less than one percent of the cap each.
Even though the Bills have the most money on IR, they don’t have the most players on IR.
This “honor” goes to the New York Jets, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons, each of which has 11 players on IR compared to 7 players for Buffalo.
However, it shows how many key players the Bills have lost this season.
On the other end of the spectrum, the Cincinnati Bengals have the least money on IR at under $1.
6 million or 0.
74% of the cap, the only team under 1%.
They also have the fewest players on IR with just three, tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers.
The Bills’ high injury toll is certainly taking a toll on them, and as they try to compete for a Super Bowl, they have to find a way to overcome it.
