‘WE CAN’T LET HIM GO’: LIVERPOOL URGED NOT TO SELL ‘KEY MEMBER’ OF JURGEN KLOPP’S SQUAD

“West Ham United are interested in signing Leicester City starlet.

has urged Liverpool not to sell Jordan Henderson this summer amid transfer rumours that Steven Gerrard wants the England midfielder to join him in Saudi Arabia.

Months after being sacked by Aston Villa, Steven Gerrard has landed a new gig in the cash-rich Saudi Pro League where he is the new manager of, Al-Ettifaq.

Well, the Liverpool legend seemingly wants Jordan Henderson as one of his big-name signings, but former left-back Enrique made it clear on his Instagram story that the 33-year-old is still a ‘key member’ of Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

The Reds have added two new midfielders to their squad this summer – Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton and Dominik Szoboszlai of RB Leipzig.

It’s pretty obvious that the above duo are going to play ahead of Henderson on a regular basis next season, but that doesn’t mean the club captain still doesn’t have a pivotal role to play.

That’s why Enrique wants Henderson to stay on board because he is aware of how important he is, both on and off the field of play.

“We can’t let Hendo go,” said Enrique. “He is always there when we need him and always gives his best. I believe when the team finds its form again, he will be a key member of the team again.”

Henderson at Euro 2024

Gareth Southgate is still picking Henderson for England, and you can imagine, if he moves to Saudi, then his international career will come to an end.

Euro 2024 will be next summer and it could be argued that it’s probably going to be Henderson’s last major tournament for the Three Lions.

Therefore, putting that on the table alone, it would be a surprise if Henderson decided to link-up with Gerrard, even though the money side of it would be very tempting.
