The Green Bay Packers (3-5) are coming off a strong 20-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams this past week.  The Packers had to have gained some confidence in that win and hope to carry it forward.  The Pittsburgh Steelers (5-3), however, are looking to keep pace with the 7-2 Baltimore Ravens within their own division.

Week 10 figures to be a good measuring stick as to where each team is.  Today, Matt LaFleur answered a few questions prior to their matchup in Pittsburgh, and one didn’t sit well with fans at all.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur on whether there’s concern over Jaire Alexander’s shoulder injury: “I’d say so. Two in a row not practicing.”

When asked if there’s long-term concern beyond this game, LaFleur said: “I don’t know.”

Jaire Alexander has been dealing with a back injury this season, but he missed practice on Wednesday because of a different ailment.

Because of a shoulder injury, Alexander was not able to participate in the team’s first on-field workout of the week. Last Sunday, Alexander played every snap in the team’s win over the Rams, so it’s unclear when the injury occurred. Today he missed his second striaght practice an LaFleur wasn’t confident at all on when his star cornerback would return.

The Packers’ defense had their best performance of the year last week.  Facing a backup quarterback or not, holding an NFL offense to three points is certainly something to celebrate.

The Packers do have hope in rookie CB Carrington Valentine.  In only his fourth career start, Valentine faced one of the league’s best receiving corps in the Los Angeles Rams. According to Pro Football Focus, Valentine had a team-high three pass breakups while allowing only one reception on eight targets. In addition to two tackles, he had a passer rating against of 39.6.
