Alan Browne on the ‘incredible’ scenes at Preston North End that identified Blackburn Rovers’ weaknesses The PNE captain got on the scoresheet in Friday night’s 1-2 win over Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side Preston North End captain Alan Browne described the scenes from derby night as “unbelievable” – during Friday night’s 1-2 win over Blackburn Rovers.
The Lilywhites have made it two wins in a row and won at Ewood Park for the second season in a row.
Browne opened the scoring in style to give Preston the lead at the break, but Sam Szmodics leveled the game four minutes into the second half.
North End continued until the last minute and it was Liam Lindsay who stepped up with the winning goal in the 90th minute – his brave header from Ben Whiteman’s cut-back beat Leo Wahlstedt and left six thousand crazy fans.
“Yeah, I liked it,” Browne said after the game.
“We came here with the intention of giving the fans something to take home, because we know they are traveling in large numbers.
They created a great atmosphere for us.
To win any game that way is special, but to do it here – having had such a good run in the past and maintaining it – I’m pretty sure we made them happy.
go home.
“I think there will be a lot of talking pictures after this game.
.
.
it was a massacre after the goal.
They were really good – good positioning and complex passing .
We have to try to match them, compete with them and make things as difficult as possible.
I think we did it and achieved our goal very well.
I’m trying to make sure people know how important it is.
“The biggest game of the last few years has obviously been Blackpool – and I’ve certainly been sure of that.
But coming in I think the boys know that.
To be honest, it was kind of men against boys and that is not disrespecting them in any way.
They are a really good team, with some top drawer quality and they will go far.
But, I think they are probably missing that experience throughout their team.
They will gain it, but at this moment in time I think we’ve just got too much for them.
” Browne’s 35 minute strike to fire PNE into the lead was sublime.
The Irishman plucked the ball out of the sky from a perfectly weighted, lofted Brad Potts pass and rifled into the roof of the Blackburn net.
He enjoyed celebrating in front of the home supporters, it’s fair to say.
“I was buzzing,” said Browne.
“The space opened up.
Liam Millar was being man-marked all game, so I just made the run when he was deep and it’s an unbelievable ball from Pottsy.
There are not many players who would find you in that situation, but luckily he did and it was just about getting my touch right.
As soon as I did that, I knew I was going to score.
I got as close to the pole as I could.
“I think my left leg is probably stronger than my right leg, which is a little strange.
But yeah, once I connect with it, which isn’t often enough, it’s usually Um.
Actually, I like it better (check it) ) for that purpose.
I have to give a little tribute to their fans.
I love doing it.
But Linds’ closing scenes are incredible.
And seeing the entire crowd go wild was amazing too.
