Two men found dead in an Arkansas cabin from gas inhalation while on a hunting trip

ASH FLAT, Ark. (KY3) – Two men from northeast Arkansas were found dead in a cabin in Sharp County, Arkansas Sunday morning.

According to a news release from the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office, three men were staying in the cabin for the weekend on a hunting trip, and one of the men owned the cabin.

Investigators say one of the men went to bed Saturday night, and the other two stayed up. He woke up around 3 a.m. and was cold. He sat next to a propane stove on the wall to warm up. Moments later, he went to the bathroom and fell.

Authorities say he was unable to stand back up and started yelling for 22-year-old Michael Luke Adams and 46-year-old Charles Gregory Adams, but they did not respond. After a few hours, the man was able to stand up and saw Gregory and Luke were unresponsive on the floor. He told investigators the last time he saw them prior to that, they were in their beds.

He then left and found a neighbor to call 911.

When authorities arrived, they also found a dog in one of the beds. Authorities say the dog appeared to be disoriented and was not responsive to investigators. Once they got the dog out of the cabin, it became more alert.

Investigators were able to determine the cause as they noticed a strong odor of propane inside the cabin. Authorities say the propane stove on the wall was turned on, and the tank was empty.

Sam Pittman had plenty to answer for Monday. Not that a 48-10 home loss to Auburn wasn’t enough, the Arkansas coach was asked why his guys were watching the “Polar Express” during halftime. The video went viral on social media.

The fact that Arkansas was losing 27-3 certainly doesn’t help the optics of it. However, as Pittman explained Monday, the video came from the locker room where redshirts dress for home games, not the main locker room.

Still, Pittman said there is no place for TV of any kind in any locker room.

“What was the show?” he asked during his press conference. “I haven’t seen ‘Polar Express,’ so I don’t really know my thoughts on the movie. In our locker room, I want to reward our kids by letting them run through the ‘A’ if they’ve practiced well. We don’t have enough lockers in our main locker to house all the kids. So, some of them have to go in a separate locker. It’s separate with a separate door to the locker.

“A young man I’ve already addressed it with him. He made a mistake. You don’t want cameras in a locker room for several reasons because you’re showering and this, that and the other, but it’s hard because the music is on as well. You know what I’m saying? But it’s a team rule. It’s also a team rule you don’t post anything after Friday night after we leave on Friday.

“The young man made a mistake. Sent it to a friend. Friend sent it to his brother. Brother put it out on what have you. I’ve already addressed it, and I think we’re fine there. But it was just a mistake a young man made. I wish he wouldn’t have. He came in. He was sorry for it. He was very remorseful for it. So, we’re going to move on.”

The video couldn’t come at a worse time.

Despite coming off a season-high in yards gained against Florida a week ago, The Razorbacks (3-7, 1-6 SEC) found a rhythm against Auburn. The Razorbacks needed five drives before it avoided a three-and-out. It had just 110 yards of total offense at halftime and its three points came after Dwight McGlothern’s interception allowed Arkansas to start its fourth series at the Auburn 20.

Pittman said it isn’t normal for a TV to be on in any locker room.

“Well it was halftime, so it wasn’t during the game,” Pittman said. “But, no. …

“Look, I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t even know there was a TV in there. And somehow the TV got turned on. I don’t think, I’ll be perfectly honest with you, I don’t think that him being in the redshirt locker room at halftime watching a movie had anything to do with us getting our butts kicked.”
