Titans announce shock departure
The Gold Coast Titans have announced the departure of 24-year-old Treymain Spry, following a three year stint with the club.
During his tenure with the Titans, Spry only played five NRL games, making his debut for the club against the Warriors in 2020.
Last year the centre mainly played with the club’s feeder side the Tweed Seagulls, playing 18 games for the Hostplus Cup side.
Special teams are often overlooked, but the Jacksonville Jaguars may miss the advantage it presents over the next month. Jamal Agnew, a first-team All-Pro punt returner in 2017 with Detroit, has hit the IR due to a shoulder injury. For at least their next four games, Parker Washington will be asked to step up in Agnew’s absence.
A fifth-round pick out of San Diego in the 2017 NFL Draft, Jamal Agnew has spent his entire career as a return man. He has four career punt return touchdowns and another two on kick returns. Agnew earned a Pro Bowl nod as a Jaguar last season despite not finding the end zone.
Agnew hasn’t scored for Jacksonville this season, but he’s putting together another solid campaign. Among players with at least five kick returns, Jamal Agnew gains the second-most yards per return. Out of the players that have tried to take back at least 10 punts, Agnew’s average yards per return ranks eighth in the NFL. He’s also added 88 yards of offense this season, albeit with his lone fumble of the year.

Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill denied the rumors that he requested to be released after Tennessee named Will Levis the team’s starter earlier this month. While speaking with reporters on Friday, the veteran signal-caller said he was shocked by the reports that were posted on social media. “I was kind of caught off guard by those reports as well,” said Tannehill. “Obviously I have a desire to play, but I just don’t know what that looks like at this point.” Ryan Tannehill has not asked for his release. #Titanspic.twitter.com/bf0ifWDKV4 — Paul Kuharsky (@PaulKuharskyNFL) November 17, 2023 Prior to last week’s showdown with the Buccaneers, Titans coach Mike Vrabel said Levis would be the team’s starting quarterback “moving forward.” “Let me just clear up some things here moving forward,” said Vrabel. “Will is going to be our quarterback. We are going to go with Will. We think that is the best opportunity for our football team right now.” Tannehill, who has only played in six games this season due to an ankle injury, lost his starting role after going down against the Ravens. The rookie Levis, who shined in his debut—the club’s 28–23 Week 8 win over Atlanta—has struggled over the last two weeks, completing only 52.6% of passes while failing to throw a touchdown, resulting in consecutive defeats to the Steelers and Buccaneers. If Tannehill were to hit the open market, the veteran would not remain unemployed long due to season-ending injuries to multiple quarterbacks, including Deshaun Watson and Joe Burrow,
