Cleveland Browns Sign Super Bowl Winning Quarterback

The Cleveland Browns have had issues regarding the quarterback position this season, especially after quarterback Deshaun Watson went out for the season with a shoulder injury. This week, the team started rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who went for 165 passing yards and an interception in the Browns’ 13-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Evidently, they need a veteran quarterback under center to keep their momentum going, and the team just signed a Super Bowl champion quarterback on Sunday night to help them out.

Cleveland has signed veteran quarterback Joe Flacco to their practice squad to get some much-needed help in their quarterback rotation. Flacco recently had a workout with the team this past week, but no details were revealed on how it went or if the Browns had interest in signing him. Now, we know that he will be joining the team’s practice squad, and could start for Cleveland shortly.

Flacco is a former Super Bowl champion with the Baltimore Ravens back in 2012 against the San Francisco 49ers. He then went to the Denver Broncos for one year, before playing with the New York Jets from 2020-2022. He has been a free agent all of this season up until now, and he will look to bring help for the Browns.

The veteran quarterback has passed for 42,320 yards and 232 touchdowns. He is now 38 years old and at the tail end of his NFL career. Depending on how he does in Cleveland, he could be a good backup option for the team next season once Watson can return to the action.

Cleveland is now 7-3 after their win on Sunday and now has sole possession of second place in the highly competitive AFC North division. They will travel to Denver next week to take on the Broncos, who have been getting hot recently. We will see if the team continues with Thompson-Robinson as the starter, or if they will activate Flacco to the active roster to see what he can do.

The Cleveland Browns are signing quarterback Joe Flacco to their practice squad, according to reports.

The Browns worked out the Super Bowl-winning signal caller Friday and are expected to promote him to the active roster, according to Adam Schefter and Field Yates.

Cleveland has been looking to add another quarterback to its roster after Deshaun Watson was ruled out for the rest of the season with a fracture to his throwing shoulder.

Flacco has an 18-3 career mark against the Browns, and last season he rallied the New York Jets to an improbable comeback win over them. He hasn´t been on any roster in 2023. But he has kept open the possibility of returning, and Cleveland has a pressing need.

The idea of adding him was met with approval from several Browns players earlier in the week.
