Miami Hurricanes Offer South Florida Prep Quarterback Cedrick Bailey

With 26 verbal commitments for the Miami Hurricanes, Mario Cristobal and his coaching staff are nowhere near done going after top prospects. Today, in fact, Miami is officially in the running for another South Florida recruit.

NC State QB commit Cedrick Bailey: 'I'm trying to get everybody' - On3

Yes, Miami made an offer to quarterback Cedrick Bailey.

The scholarship offer to Bailey is one that keeps coming up in Miami recruiting circles. The 6-foot-6 and 185-pound signal caller has been on the recruiting scene for quite some time and he’s technically a North Carolina State commitment.

This is a big-armed signal caller who does the majority of his work from the pocket. Bailey does, however, make plays with his legs. Whether the run-pass option game or designed quarterback runs, Bailey’s ability to gash a defense with his legs is consistent. He’s still better known for his ability to throw strikes.

He’s been a part of one of Florida’s best high school teams in Chaminade-Madonna, the Lions are a high-flying passing attack that operates through Bailey’s right arm. When he’s on, Bailey is electric.

During the course of the past season, Bailey really began to show quarterback maturity with when and how to throw different types of passes. Taking something off a shorter throw, while sometimes looking off a safety as well.

Here are Bailey’s recruiting rankings, with the order being national, position, and state:

The Hurricanes already possess the commitment of one quarterback, Judd Anderson. He’s been one of the leaders of this Miami recruiting class. With the Canes possibly losing at least one of Tyler Van Dyke and/or Jaccuri Brown, plus Emory Williams on the mend due to a left-arm injury, perhaps Cristobal and his staff are deciding that a two-quarterback recruiting class is best?

Hard to say. There are connections with Miami, Bailey, his high school team that do need to be considered as well. That even goes to his seven-on-seven squad in South Florida Express.
