The Texas Rangers may have picked up a decisive win against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night, but they may have suffered major losses in both their lineup and rotation in the process.
Starting pitcher Max Scherzer left Game 3 of the World Series with lower back strain, coming off the mound after just 3.

Right fielder Adris Garcia injured his left oblique muscle when flying to center field in the eighth inning, and was ejected from the game after the fifth inning.
Scherzer faced just 11 batters and did not allow a run, setting the stage for a near-perfect performance by the Rangers’ bullpen.
Texas was leading 3-0 when Garcia replaced Travis Jankowski and won 3-1.
Manager Bruce Bochy shared an update on Scherzer and Garcia after the game, highlighting some of the issues Scherzer is currently facing.
But the three-time World Series captain didn’t have much new information about the three-time Cy Young.
“Max took a pretty good shot with his elbow, and that’s what we were worried about,” Bochy said.
“But it was his lower back that was bothering him.
The Rangers originally planned to start Jon Gray in Game 4 on Tuesday, but he started 3.
0 as a reliever on Monday after Scherzer left.
He pitched an inning, and the effects of Scherzer’s potential injury will become clear as Bochy turns his attention to the next pitcher.
Scherzer suffered a shoulder injury in September that kept him off the mound until the ALCS.
He has started three games this postseason, pitching 9.
2 innings and posting a 6.
52 ERA.

Meanwhile, Garcia was a staple in the Rangers’ lineup throughout the playoffs.

Bochy also remained silent about Garcia’s status and did not give up on the opportunity until Tuesday.
“We’re optimistic about that,” Bochy said.

The lineup is expected to be announced in the next few hours, and Garcia’s availability will become clearer by then.
