Lifelong Teammates: Anthony Rezac to Join Twin Brother at Notre Dame
Anthony Rezac led Omaha Westside to consecutive Nebraska Class A state titles as the starting quarterback.
As a senior this year, he went 160-of-218 (73.4%) for 2,316 yards and 30 touchdowns to just five interceptions. He also turned 97 carries into 905 yards (9.3 yards/carry) and three touchdowns
One of his targets on the perimeter is his identical twin brother Teddy Rezac whose primary role is a combination of linebacker and safety. Defense is where he’ll compete at the next level, committing to Notre Dame in the spring.
Their dad DJ Rezac was an all-state linebacker at Westside in the 1980s, and his dad coached the Omaha program a decade earlier. The twins have an older brother in Dominic Rezac, a former all-state running back who left Westside for Vanderbilt in 2022.
It’s a common bond in the Rezac family – multiple generations contributing to the winning football culture at Omaha Westside. And that culture is particularly rich right now, back-to-back champs, 25-1 through those two seasons, outscoring its opponents by a 49-3 per-game average this year.
Now Anthony is set to join Teddy in South Bend, announcing a commitment to a preferred walk-on opportunity on Monday.
Anthony Rezac: I actually went to both the Ohio State and USC games, and they were both super, super fun games. The atmosphere was awesome. The fans were awesome. Obviously, the Ohio State game was a little bit closer. So that was a nail-biter to the end.
Anthony Rezac: Well, obviously, the Notre Dame ’24 class is filled with a lot of great players, a lot of great athletes. So, seeing those dudes in person who I’d seen over social media and known a little bit because Teddy talks about them, it was cool to meet a lot of those guys.
With the coaches, I was super impressed with…every coach I talked to. It was just a super-good experience to start to get to know everyone, especially because shortly after, I got that PWO (offer).
Before that, I never really thought of going to Notre Dame even when Teddy committed. Once I got that, then it kind of opened up my eyes a little bit to some opportunities.
