Osorio has been surprisingly linked with a move to the Premier League in the last few months, with West Ham thought to be in the picture.

Indeed, there were claims that West Ham had submitted a bid for the youngster, although that was quickly rejected by Universidad de Chile.

The Hammers are not the only side to have been linked, with Leicester City also named as suitors on more than one occasion and a host of other Premier League sides all credited with an interest at one point or another this year.

None of them have made a bid as yet, with technical director Manuel Mayo insisting again this week that there have not been any ‘concrete offers’ for the player.

It seems the opportunity is there if West Ham want to take it, though, as Pellegrino has confirmed they need to sell if they’re to make signings of their own.

“The club told us that it is very difficult to sign a player if we do not sell to Darío Osorio, that is the reality of the institution,” he said.

“If money does not come in, it is difficult for us to sign a quality player and there is no problem in saying so.

“The ideal would be to have a wallet, start issuing checks, bring the players you want, but that’s not the reality.

“It seems good to me that the club is consistent with a budget or that it obviously does not go hand in hand with the wishes of the coach, the technical secretary, even the owner of the institution.

“Today it has been dragging difficult moments and the club is gradually getting back on its feet, we cannot go from zero to one hundred, it is a process.”
