Leicester City confirm second summer transfer after Harry Winks signing
The latest Leicester City transfer news as the defender has completed a move to the King Power Stadium with City beating off competition for the player
Leicester City have confirmed the signing of defender Conor Coady, with the defender completing a move from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The central defender has signed a three-year contract in a deal which will see City pay a reported £7.5million, with the fee rising to £8.5m if they are promoted. The club are said to have seen off Premier League competition for the player.
Coady has been with Wolves since 2015 making a total of 317 appearances for the club. He wore the captain’s armband for the majority of the 2017/18 season when the club won the Championship and promotion back to the Premier League.
The 30-year-old spent last season on loan with Everton, where he played 25 times, including the full 90 minutes of the crucial 1-0 win over Bournemouth in the final game of the season. It was that game which sealed City’s relegation to the Championship.
Coady will now be tasked with helping City earn promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. The club hope his experience and leadership qualities will do just that.
Coady’s arrival comes on the same day City confirmed the capture of Harry Winks from Tottenham.
