Former Leeds Rhinos and Castleford Tigers playmaker Blake Austin explains his move to a new club after being relegated to grassroots rugby league.
Austin left the Rhinos in mid-2023 and joined Castleford on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
Despite being offered a contract with his jungle, Austin did not sign the contract and became a free agent, eventually heading to his native Australia.
A move to the NRL or League Two would not have been out of the question, but the 32-year-old has retired from professional rugby league to join the Entrance Tigers.
Now, Austin has explained the decision, posting on Instagram: “Can’t wait to get home and spend another year with the Entrance Tigers.
” Everyone who knows me knows my passion for the sport and its foundation.
“I can’t wait to jump into this.
I’m looking forward to spending more time with my kids and hopefully learning to surf lol.
