Roster Move: Bears place Ngakoue on season-ending injured reserve The Bears placed defensive end Yannick Ngakoue on season-ending injured reserve after breaking his ankle late Wednesday in a 28-13 win over the Lions late Sunday.
He was placed on injured reserve.
Manager Matt Eberflus told reporters that Ngakoue will miss the final five games of the season and will require surgery.
In his first year with the Bears, Ngakoue started his first 13 games and recorded 22 tackles, 4.
0 sacks and six tackles for loss.
“I would like to commend him for always being a true professional,” Eberflus said.
“He’s really helped our young players all year long.
I want to give him credit for that and I’m really grateful to him for being a great teammate.
” ASAP Best wishes for your recovery, @YannickNgakoue 🙏 pic.twitter.com/ksOfjBsiEj — Chicago Bears (@ChicagoBears) December 13, 2023 Ngakoue signed a one-year contract with the Bears in August.
4 after spending his first seven seasons in the NFL with the Jaguars (2016-19), Vikings (2020), Ravens (2021) and Colts (2022).
He played in 110 games and started 102, recording 202 tackles, 65.
0 sacks, 21 forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.
Until this year, Ngakoue had never recorded less than 8.
0 sacks in a season since entering the NFL as a third-round pick out of Jacksonville in 2016.
“I thought [his stats were] good.
He made some mistakes, so he could have been better,” Eberflus said.
“He wore (the quarterback) well there, so we could have beaten him.
” We have to do a good job of getting the quarterback ready, wrapping him up and taking him down once he breaks through, and I think he could have had at least three or four more.
, Eberflus joked: “Flash on every snap.
” In fact, the veteran’s absence from Sunday, when the Bears visit the Browns in Cleveland, will affect the play of several defensive linemen.
This will result in an increase in time.
“This is a really great opportunity.
” “Several others,” Everflus said.
“We rotated a lot of guys there.
For me, it’s about finding the best combination and basically about matchups.
The ability of the offensive line that we play this week and those players When you think about how we can best match up against them and who’s playing who, which is important, we’ve been below 62% this year.
Ends DeMarcus Walker, Rasheem Green and Dominick Robinson, and tackles Garvon Dexter Sr.
and Zach Pickens are among the players who can help fill that hole.
“It’s important for the players to take advantage of the opportunity and have a vision for the opportunity and a vision for the play they’re going to make,” Eberflus said.
“That’s the purpose of today’s walk-through practice: for the players to visualize themselves in a game plan, make plays today and move on, make corrections and move on to the next day.
