Nottingham Forest appoint Adam Burrows into key off-field role
Nottingham Forest have made a key off-field appointment in the shape of Adam Burrows. He will be added to the backroom team to help combat injuries in the strength and conditioning department.
The Athletic have this afternoon reported this big off-field decision that can only benefit Forest in the long run.
Burrows was part of Thomas Tuchel’s staff that helped Chelsea win the Champions League. He had been at Stamford Bridge since 2019 when Frank Lampard took him from Derby County.
Interestingly, Burrows has been running a strength and conditioning programme at Nottingham Trent University for the last year. He started that position after leaving Chelsea at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
Forest had rotten luck with injuries last season. They had a staggering 37 different injuries to players at different periods of the campaign and Burrows will aim to combat this big problem.
Lampard was a big advocate of his work during his time at Chelsea. He called him ‘fantastic’ and cited him as a big influence in helping Christian Pulisic settle into English football.
Forest have moved to make this appointment, with the club going the entire 2022/23 campaign without a head physio. Neil Simms joined Southampton after promotion and he wasn’t replaced.
Now, Burrows will hope to spearhead a fresh outlook when it comes to strength and conditioning. Forest will hope that this move can help the Reds get their best eleven out on the park more often than not.
Forest add Adam Burrows to off-field team
This is a massive step in the right direction for Forest. One of Ross Wilson’s big remits, when he took over at the club, will have been to make sure key off-field positions are addressed.
Burrows has top-level experience and it would appear that both Lampard and Tuchel enjoyed a sound working relationship with him.
The Reds will need to add some players to their squad this summer. However, making appointments off the field is hardly a bad thing either.
Forest fans should be delighted with this. It was sickening the number of injuries that the Reds had last season and hopefully Burrows can help the team in that sense.
