With Issa Diop out with a foot injury and Tosin Adarabioyo also out with a long-term groin problem, Fulham are without a high-profile centre-back on the right.
This means that two left-footed players, Bassey and Tim Ream, are expected to line up at the heart of Fulham’s defence.
Bassey’s only previous Premier League start was in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal in August.
Fulham are still without regular right-back Kenny Tete due to a groin injury, so Timothy Castagne will continue to play in their interim back four.
Silva said Anthony Robinson is fit to start at left-back despite being ruled out of the USA squad due to a groin problem.
“Robinson has been playing week in and week out for the last few seasons,” Silva explained.
“There is no rest in international matches, including the summer tournaments.
He never stops.
He played with us all the time, except for small assignments.
” Silva added: ” It’s nothing serious.
We have to look after him and it was a good moment to do that in the friendlies (against Germany and Ghana).
He worked with us here.
He had time to rest and recover.
” Fulham are the only team to beat Ange Postecoglou’s side this season, defeating Tottenham on penalties in the Carabao Cup in August.
But Silva is expecting an even stronger performance from Spurs on Monday night.
“Tottenham have had a great start to the season and it’s clear why,” he said.
“It’s not just the result that matters, but also the way you achieve it.
They had a bad result and it was against us.
Different scenario, different game.
It’s going to be a big challenge.
