SAD NEWS: Kansas State wildcats key player suffered a season-ending injury……..

Kansas State Linebacker Suffers Injury Ahead of Matchup Against Oklahoma State

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are facing a Kansas State team that might be banged up on Friday. The Wildcats’ head coach Chris Klieman said during his weekly presser that linebacker Asa Newsom has suffered a season-ending injury, according to Kellis Robinett.

Newsom has appeared in two games and has racked up five total tackles, four being solo. They lost linebacker Daniel Green, a senior, a couple of weeks back. As Oklahoma State takes on Kansas State on Friday, the Wildcats may be without much depth at the linebacker position.

Desmond Purnell, Austin Romaine and Austin Moore are expected to be the starting linebackers for Kansas State this week as the Cowboys host them in Stillwater.

As for other injuries, running back Treshaun Ward is a full go for the Wildcats. He could cause some problems for the Cowboys’ 3-3-5 defense which has allowed nearly 140 yards per game on the ground this season. The senior running back has 36 carries for 160 rushing yards and one touchdown on the season, missing the Wildcats’ most recent matchup.

RJ Garcia is another player who missed the Wildcats’ recent matchup and will be playing against Oklahoma State. The sophomore wide receiver caught five passes for 119 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 for the Wildcats.

This game will be a big matchup for the Cowboys. With their 2-2 start to the season, getting on the right side of momentum will be huge. They’ll need any bit of momentum they can get heading into another home matchup in Week 7, this time hosting Kansas, who is just as capable of hanging plenty of points on the Cowboys.

If the Oklahoma State offense is unable to keep up, especially as the Wildcats have Ward and Garcia healthy, this Friday night battle could get ugly for Mike Gundy’s Cowboys.
