Brazilian star hints at Nottingham Forest transfer decision in ‘next few days’
Danilo and Gustavo Scarpa arrived from Palmeiras in January 2023 before Murillo joined from Corinthians in August.
Add in the arrivals of Felipe and Andrey Santos and we have seen a real Brazilian flavour emerge at the City Ground.
There could be one more signing on the way – but Forest may face a nervy few days.
Fluminense defender Nino has been on the lips of Forest fans for a while now.
Reports back in November suggested that Forest had reached an agreement to sign the 26-year-old.
There were even claims as recently as earlier this month suggesting that Nino has a ‘verbal agreement’ to join Forest ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt.
The January transfer window is fast approaching and yet we still have no official word on whether Nino will be joining Forest or not.
Globo Esporte claim that Nino’s final decision has been delayed because of the Club World Cup and the interest from other clubs.
Nino himself now tells Globo Esporte that he hasn’t yet decided his future and that the next few days will be ‘fundamental’.
Nino added that he will always love Fluminense and doesn’t really know his decision just yet, leaving Forest to wait for a final call.
“I’m very happy here, I’ve always said that,” said Nino. “My future is not decided yet, these next few days will be fundamental. I can’t say anything yet, because I really don’t know what will happen. But I’m sure that whatever happens will be the best for me and for Fluminense. The fans can rest assured that the next step will be taken very calmly and with a lot of love towards me for Fluminense,” he added.
Nino lined up for Fluminense in the Club World Cup final on Friday, scoring an own goal in a 4-0 defeat to Manchester City.
Fluminense now don’t have a fixture until January 19th, meaning Nino could have left the club by the time they next take to the field.
Nuno’s Fluminense career may well end on an own goal but whether Forest ends up being his next destination remains to be seen.
