Defensor for Watford tweets farewell letter following move to Italy
Over the weekend, Watford fans received a farewell message from defender Hassane Kamara on his Instagram account.
The 29-year-old was loaned back to the Hornets for the entirety of the 2022–2023 season after joining Udinese a year earlier.
He is currently back in Italy, though, getting ready for the upcoming Serie A campaign with a number of other former Watford players.
“We’ve been through a lot!” Kamara wrote on Instagram. I found the Premier League and the Championship with you.
“I’ve had the honor of representing this club in incredible stadiums, against elite athletes, and, of course, with amazing teammates.”
Kamara acknowledged in his letter to supporters that Watford had yet another terrible season on the field.
He remarked, “I was hoping to give you back all the love you gave me.”
“This past year and a half has been the best of my career thus far, even if I was devastated that we weren’t promoted last season.
“I like the thorns as much as the blooms. It is difficult to say goodbye.Let’s just conclude, guys: until next time.”
During the January 2022 transfer window, Kamara left Nice for Watford for an estimated £4 million.
Despite the Hornets’ relegation, he made 19 Premier League matches and was named the team’s Player of the Season for his unwavering efforts.
His sudden move to Udinese a year ago raised eyebrows among rival supporters and commentators, who questioned the £16 million transfer fee—especially considering that he was immediately loaned back to Vicarage Road to play the entire season.
In the Championship, he made 32 appearances, although two red cards marred his record.
The second one, which happened on Boxing Day at home against Millwall in the 38th minute, drew the most criticism.
The Ivory Coast has capped Kamara seven times, the most recent being in an African Cup of Nations match over a year ago.
