Joining Penn State is explained by Tom Allen: “I coach football.”
Tom Allen was dismissed as the Indiana Hoosiers’ head coach a few weeks ago. He didn’t, however, go without work for very long because he accepted a job with the Penn State Nittany Lions as their new defensive coordinator right away. And this past weekend, he gave a brief explanation of that choice.
Tom Allen was questioned recently at a news conference over his decision to take the coaching position with the Penn State Nittany Lions so soon after he was let go by the Indiana Hoosiers.
During his inaugural news conference this past week, Allen stated, “Well, you don’t control the clock, the timing of things,” according to On3. “You react the same way you do most things in life.”
Allen’s choice to return to coaching was based solely on his passion for the sport.
“I believe that, for me? I coach football. Simply enjoy what I do. I was immediately interested in this chance that presented itself within this timeframe, Allen stated. “Of course, an opportunity to delve deeper into that, mentor, and walk through the process. For me? I honestly thought that after things transpired as they did, I would get back into it. maybe a little faster than anticipated, but that’s the aspect you have no control over.
