Nikola Jokic of the Nuggets Talks About His Retirement Goals
Superstar Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets stated on Michael Porter Jr.’s podcast that he wants no one to remember who he is after he retires from the NBA.
When Jokic retires from the NBA, he wants to race horses and tour Europe.
Jokic remarked, “Some people like being famous, some people don’t.” When my career is over, I truly hope that no one knows who I am. I want my child, or kids, to remember me as their father in the future. That seems to be what I want to achieve in life.
Arguably, the most modest NBA player of all time is Jokic. He detests being the center of attention and the spotlight.Since we are merely basketball players at the end of the day, I truly don’t like this existence. Simply put, we excel at what we do,” Jokic remarked. “However, the media is a constant in our lives, and naturally, we receive compensation for it due to our notoriety.”
It’s unlikely that the American public will see or hear from Jokic once he leaves the NBA until he is admitted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Not that the Nuggets big man cares for notoriety.
Jokic is averaging 26.3 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 9.2 assists for the Nuggets this season while shooting 81.7% from the free-throw line, 32.7% from beyond the arc, and 54.9% from the floor. With 28 double-doubles and 11 triple-doubles, the two-time MVP and one-time Finals MVP is well-rounded.Jokic was selected by the Nuggets with the 41st overall choice in the 2014 NBA Draft. Over his career, Jokic has
averaged 10.6 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 20.5 points. In addition, he has created five All-Star and five All-NBA teams. Jokic ranks second in terms of player efficiency rating and fourth in terms of triple-doubles in NBA history.
