Amidst an injury issue, Liverpool has approached Fulham about signing Antonee Robinson.

Fulham and Liverpool are allegedly in communication on the potential of acquiring defender Antonee Robinson in January.

Liverpool is now atop the table after their Boxing Day victory over Burnley, and they enter the new year full of confidence that they can win the Premier League.

Their chances, meanwhile, suffered a slight setback when Kostas Tsimikas suffered a broken collarbone during last week’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal, ruling him out indefinitely.

Jurgen Klopp is without a natural left-back at the moment, with Joe Gomez filling in for him until Andy Robertson returns from his shoulder injury, which is likely to happen at the end of January.

Furthermore, Joel Matip’s ACL injury will keep him out of action for the remainder of the season, leaving the Reds desperately short on defensive choices. For this reason, they plan to spend money on reinforcements when the transfer market reopens.

 

In light of this, the Express claim that Liverpool has contacted Fulham to inquire about Robinson’s availability and the potential cost of a move for the left-back.

The USA international is rumored to be open to transferring to Anfield, but a deal might be costly given that he only recently inked a new contract that will keep him at Craven Cottage until 2028.

For a pittance of around £2 million, the 26-year-old, who had previously been signed by Everton, a rival of Liverpool, joined Fulham in 2020.

He has played in 127 games for the Cottagers to date, and as his team romped to the championship, he was selected for the 2021/22 Championship Team of the Season.

With his team only six points above the drop and in risk of being drawn into a relegation battle, it is unclear if Marco Silva would be willing to let the defender leave.

While the Reds are scheduled to play Newcastle in the opening Premier League game of 2024, Fulham can help Liverpool in the title chase by hosting Arsenal on New Year’s Eve.
