South Carolina LB transfer Grayson Howard commits to the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators needed to bolster their linebacker depth this summer, so they brought in Myles Graham and Aaron Chiles from high school in December and added another player on Monday.

Only a few days after registering on the transfer portal, South Carolina linebacker transfer Grayson Howard made his commitment to the Florida Gators on Thursday.

Howard, a top prospect for the Gators in the 2023 recruiting class, made 19 tackles in 11 games while a freshman at South Carolina.Grayson Howard, 4-star LB, commits to South Carolina football

The native of Jacksonville chose South Carolina over Florida the previous season, but he is back home and will fight for playing time the following season.

After playing spring ball with the Gators, Howard will meet up with Graham, who will also be on campus in the coming days.

With the signing of Howard, the Gators now have five transfers: Trikweze Bridges, Joey Slackman, Chimere Dike, and Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson all signed with Florida in December and want to play spring ball for the squad.

Brady Hunt, a former wide receiver for Ball State, switched from South Carolina to Texas A&M.

Transfer portal flips are still relatively uncommon, while high school commitment flips are becoming more and more frequent. In spite of this, former Ball State tight end Brady Hunt was persuaded to switch his transfer commitment from South Carolina to Texas A&M on Thursday by Mike Elko and his staff.

According to 247 Sports, Hunt is a 6’6″ and 249-pound wide receiver who is ranked No. 13 in the portal and No. 165 overall among players. Despite missing the all of 2023 due to injury, he was considered for the preseason Mackey Award watch list after posting 46 receptions for 498 yards and five touchdowns in 2022.

With Hunt joining Garrett Miller of Purdue and high school prospect Eric Karner in the portal, the Aggies now have two TEs.
