The search for a Swansea City manager continues as Alan Sheehan is pressed and Spurs reject Chris Davies’ proposal.
The Swans are looking for a new manager after Michael Duff was fired.
Temporary After Michael Duff was fired, Swansea City’s manager Alan Sheehan opened up about a tumultuous week at the team and stated his team had “another gear to go up” as they attempt to improve their miserable league record.
Duff’s exit was made public on Monday night following the Swans’ 1-1 draw with another struggling team Huddersfield Town. The club’s management, who had only hired the former manager of Cheltenham and Barnsley in June, decided it was time for him to leave after his team had only won once in their previous eight games, placing them in 18th place in the Championship.
The team is still searching for a replacement, although Sheehan will lead the team on Saturday when they go to Rotherham United. Chris Davies, who was a serious contender prior to Duff’s hiring last summer, is rumored to have emerged as the front-runner for the position. Davies instead decided to become a member of Tottenham Hotspur’s coaching staff under Ange Postecoglu.
It is unclear if he would be open to swapping north London for south Wales, or even if Swansea could afford the amount Tottenham has offered in compensation. Swansea had previously had one attempt at signing Davies rejected by the Premier League team. Click here to read the entire story.
And although Sheehan declined to comment on the rumors, he called his new role “an incredible job for any manager”. In addition, he expressed his wish to revive “the Swansea way” and stated his team was well-prepared for the journey to South Yorkshire.
