It’s thought that the Golden State Warriors are at least considering the prospect of dealing Chris Paul before the deadline at the end of next month.
During his appearance on the Hoops Hype podcast, Anthony Slater of The Athletic stated that the Warriors acquired Paul in the summer mostly due to his contract expiring.
“I believe it is conceivable. Slater stated that Paul’s trade was made possible in part by his voluntary nature. “The fact that his contract was about to expire added to its appeal when they decided to trade Jordan Poole for him. They are entering this realm, but where will they send Klay Thompson during the summer?
Since sustaining a fractured hand on January 5 against the Detroit Pistons, Paul has not been in the starting lineup. It’s improbable that he will be cleared by the deadline because he doesn’t currently have a return date and is still in a cast as of this week.
Over the summer, Jordan Poole was sold to Washington in exchange for the future Hall of Famer, who was acquired by Golden State. Earlier in the same summer, Paul was a part of the trade that sent Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns.
Even though it’s obvious that Paul is well past his playing prime, when fit, he has been an essential part of Steve Kerr’s rotation. During his first 32 games, he averaged 8.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game.
