Negotiations about an Aaron Rodgers trade seem to be at a standstill between the Packers and the Jets.
But offensive tackle David Bakhtiari, a veteran of the Green Bay Packers, thinks a solution will be reached. In addition, he discussed his thoughts on the deal’s timetable, projecting that the move would probably take place before the draft.
“The most straightforward thing, in my opinion, is that the Packers will receive the picks they desired. They’ll receive it ahead of the draft, and time will tell. On the “Bussin With The Boys” podcast from Barstool Sports, Bakhtiari declared, “He’s going to be a Jet.”
The three-time Pro Bowl left tackle also mentioned that he understands the Packers would be perceived as a team that is completely rebuilding if Rodgers were to leave.
Regardless of your opinion, Bakhtiari stated, “The Packers are rebuilding.” “Maybe they are good? I have no idea. Might they be harmful? If you’re betting, more people will probably believe that they’re going to be evil than nice, right? Would you not say that? Consequently, they will say, “Well, we’re gonna suck anyway.”
In addition, Bakhtiari offered an intriguing hypothesis regarding the potential outcomes should Rodgers remain in Green Bay.
“We won’t give in to pressure from anyone; we will pursue our goals.” Thus, we’ll just eat the contract with Aaron Rodgers. We could care less, we’ll pay you. It must be on our terms if we are going to do it that way. Otherwise, what kind of candidates for the Super Bowl are we going to be? Thus, we will consume it. Rogers, you can hang out on the side. Instead of trading him for something you shouldn’t have, we’ll give you [Rodgers] your money and then get the picks.”
The Packers are publicly owned by shareholders rather than having a single owner.
A millionaire owner would probably take issue with the thought of losing $60 million in a season because of one player’s inability to play. However, if the arrangement with the Jets blows apart, the organization does have the option to “eat” Rodgers’ contract in 2023 because just one player will have to pay the price.

Although Bakhtiari acknowledged that the Packers would only consider retaining Rodgers in Green Bay and paying him to sit on the bench if the Jets made a deal they couldn’t refuse.

“You might place yourself in a difficult situation and possibly have your employment questioned. I consider every option you have for handling it. It wouldn’t get that heated, in my opinion. I do believe that the Jets and Packers will most likely reach a mutual understanding. He’ll be dealt, the Packers will get their wish, and eventually it will probably be clear who prevailed.”
Whether or not Aaron Rodgers is available, Bakhtiari is certain that Jordan Love will lead the Packers as their starting quarterback in 2023.
