Watch as Porter Moser, the basketball coach of Oklahoma, gives an overview of the Sooners’ upcoming Saturday game against No. 20 Texas Tech, who are rated No. 11.
Oklahoma defeated No. 10-ranked Texas 91-87 on Wednesday night in Austin with to double-digit scoring from all five starters and a 3-pointer from Lexy Keys.
The Longhorns were defeated by OU thanks to the performances of Skylar Vann (24 points and 12 rebounds), Nevaeh Tot (14 points, 10 assists, and zero turnovers), Payton Verhulst (18 points),Jennie Baranczyk’s (13 points and 8 rebounds), and the Keys (15 points on 4-of-10 shooting from 3-point range).
In the Big 12, OU was 6-1 overall and 18-3 overall, while Texas dropped to 18-3 and 5-3.
It was Texas’s first loss to an unranked opponent this season and coach Jennie Baranczyk’s third victory over a top-10 foe.
In addition, it was OU’s 900th victory overall, ranking the Sooners as only the 45th program in the nation to accomplish that feat.
Shay Holle tallied 22 points and Madison Booker scored 29 for Texas, but the Sooners were simply too strong. OU led Texas with 21 assists, while the Sooners scored 16 points off of turnovers (Texas lead with 6).
Before Texas made a rally that reached 85-84, OU led for about 33 minutes of play and even accumulated a 13-point advantage in the second half. Keys’ 3-pointer with 41 seconds remaining gave the Sooners some breathing room.
