There is a similar element throughout the offenses of the four NFL playoff teams.
WBAY, Green Bay, Wisconsin Jeff Hafley, the head coach at Boston College, will take over as the Packers’ next defensive coordinator.
Head coach Matt LaFleur stated in a team press release, “We are excited to welcome Jeff, his wife Gina, and their daughters, Hope and Leah, to the Packers and the Green Bay community.” “Jeff has a strong track record of developing players at all levels and has been successful at every stage in his coaching career. We are excited to have him in charge of our defense.
In three of his four seasons as coach, Hafley was bowl eligible and guided Boston College to a 22-26 record. With 175 passing yards per game in 2021, the Eagles defense was third in the country for passing yards allowed. Additionally, they were in the top-30.
In 2019, he worked as Ohio State’s defensive coordinator for the sole time. During that season, the Buckeyes held the top spot in the red zone and were ranked in the top ten nationally in yards per play, passing yards allowed, and rushing defense.
Hafley does have seven years of assistant experience in the NFL. serving as the defensive backs coach in Cleveland from 2014 to 2015, sharing the position with former Packers defensive coordinator Mike Pettine. From there, in 2016, he moved to San Francisco to work with Chip Kelly. A year later, when Kyle Shanahan took over, he remained with the 49ers.
Despite never having worked directly with Matt LaFleur, Hafley is well connected to people who are close to the head coach of the Packers. including being employed by a close buddy
