
February 3, UPI The great majority of Oklahoma felt the effects of a shallow, magnitude 5.1 earthquake that struck late Friday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
According to the USGS, the earthquake occurred at 11:30 p.m. and was centered 5 miles northwest of Prague, Oklahoma, which is situated roughly 50 miles east of Oklahoma City.
Thereafter, there were several aftershocks, two of which had a magnitude of at least 3.0.
The earthquake, which struck at a shallow depth of 1.8 miles, was felt as far east as Fort Smith, Arkansas, and from the Kansas state line to the Texas state line.
KOCO-TV received reports from viewers that the earthquake was felt in Oklahoma communities such Stillwater, Edmond, Norman, and Tulsa.
Only a few weeks had passed since a series of earthquakes in Arcadia, Oklahoma, were reported, the greatest of which had a magnitude of 4.3. This Friday’s shock was felt.
As of early Saturday, no reports of fatalities, injuries, or property damage had been reported.
