£35M STAR SPEAKS OUT AFTER BIG LIVERPOOL AND CRYSTAL PALACE BIDS
Torino defender huursPerr Sc admits he is none the wiser about where his future lies after Premier League pair Liverpool and Crystal Palace submitted bids for the former Ajax ace.
Perr Schuurs’ future was the name on everybody’s lips as Torino kicked off their Serie A preparations in Philadelphia this week.
The Dutch U21 international shot to fame with a superb performance against Jurgen Klopp’s men in the Champions League back in 2020, and long-time admirers Liverpool reportedly saw a £26 million bid rejected by the Granata earlier this month (Tuttosport)
Crystal Palace have since offered £30 million. A fee that – if Torino were to accept it – would see 23-year-old Schuurs overtake Christian Benteke as the most expensive signing in Eagles history.

Do not sleep on West Ham either; the Hammers have an ace up their sleeve in Nikola Vlasic, with a player-plus-cash swap deal under consideration. GiveMeSport believe that there has also been interest from Arsenal, although that has cooled with the Gunners closing in on a deal for his former Ajax team-mate Jurrien Timber instead.
Either way, Schuurs found himself facing some very predictable questions during Torino’s pre-season tour. Not that he did much to quell the speculation.
“Am I staying Turin? I don’t know,” Schuurs told Calciomercato with typically frank, Dutch honesty.
While Liverpool may be the most high-profile destination – Schuurs’ fellow Dutchman Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo already ply their trade at Anfield – Crystal Palace and West Ham can take solace in the fact that the 6ft 3ins centre-half has turned down so-called ‘bigger clubs’ in the past due to his desire to play regular first-team football.
“Clubs of the calibre of Tottenham, Liverpool and PSG had moved to take the player,” agent George Gardi said back in 2022; Schuurs completing an £8 million move to Torino instead.
“The operation was long. In addition to Liverpool, Tottenham, PSG, three Italian clubs also wanted Schuurs. However, having chosen a path, we went on to follow it without delay, with strong conviction.
“Thanks to Torino, I am sure Schuurs can become a pillar of the Dutch national team.”
Calciomercato add that Granata president Urbano Cairo is holding out for £35 million.
