Fearing he would miss their pivotal semi-final match, the 25-year-old attacker stayed in Abidjan with members of the national team’s medical staff on Monday instead of traveling with his teammates to the Ivorian city of Bouake.
During Nigeria’s 2024 AFCON campaign, Osimhen has participated in nearly every available minute, helping the team advance to the semi-finals with two assists and one goal. When the Super Eagles fell to Algeria in the 2019 semifinals, he was left off the field.
