A man who was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the mid-match death of an ice hockey player has been rebailed, police have said.
After the incident, the game was abandoned and the 8,000-person crowd was asked to leave as Mr Johnson, 29, received medical attention.
On Friday, he was rebailed until April 25, 2024, according to a statement.
The inquest started shortly, but it was later revealed that Ms Rawden had sent out a Prevention of Future Deaths Report to Ice Hockey UK and the English Ice Hockey Association (EIHA) concerning the use of neck guards in the sport.
She stated in the report that she was “sufficiently concerned that deaths may occur in the future if neck guards or protectors are not worn” and gave 56 days to the UK governing bodies of ice hockey to decide what action had been taken or not.
Although the EIHA has stated that neck guards will be required in its games from 2024, the Elite League, in which Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers are involved, is not under its jurisdiction.
The league has stated that it will not impose neck guards as a requirement, but “strongly encourages” players and officials to wear them.
