During media availability, former Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Jauan Jennings talked about the state of Tennessee and bringing a Super Bowl home.

Before the Super Bowl, wide receiver Jauan Jennings of the San Francisco 49ers talked about the significance of the University of Tennessee and the state to him. Jennings, a native of Tennessee, discussed what it would mean to bring a victory home in his first Super Bowl appearance.

It’s fortunate. It’s just incredible. I’m just speaking for everyone in Tennessee and the 49ers. Here, I have a large family. I have everyone cheering me on. I simply can’t wait to return it to Tennessee.”

On Sunday night, the 49ers from San Francisco were facing an overwhelming disadvantage. It appeared as though the top-seeded Detroit Lions would lose before the big game when they took a three-point lead early in the NFC Championship Game. But the difference was, they understood where to go when they needed huge plays.

Jennings made a significant impact for them. He had just one eight-yard grab of the afternoon, but it was at a critical point. San Francisco was behind 17 points early in the third quarter as they faced a 3rd & 4 from Detroit’s 35-yard line. For a remarkable one-handed catch, quarterback Brock Purdy found Jennings across the center of the field. The drive was prolonged by the play, and it culminated in a field goal.

That field goal gave San Francisco a historic come-from-behind victory by cutting the advantage to two points. While Jennings had 19 catches for 265 yards in his lowest statistical season of his three-year contract, he is now playing in the Super Bowl for the first time in his career.
