WEST HAM’S GIANLUCA SCAMACCA ON ROMA LINKS: “MOURINHO WOULD STIMULATE ME”

West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca has revealed that he would be quite happy to join Roma and play under Jose Mourinho, withNewcastle his future at the London club uncertain.

Scamacca has been linked with not just Roma but with Milan as well. Juventus also made an enquiry for the Azzurri forward yesterday and it remains to be seen what the future holds for the 24-year-old.

Roma are attempting to sign the player on a loan deal and in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Scamacca revealed his admiration for Roma, Mourinho and Francesco Totti.

“Roma is home for me. And Totti my idol as a child. And what player in the world wouldn’t dream of being coached by Mourinho? I am convinced that Mou would stimulate me and with him I would improve even more.”

He also stated that if he returns to Serie A, it wouldn’t be because he failed in England but because returning to Italy would be an unmissable chance for him.

“If I had to return to Serie A, it wouldn’t be because I failed in England, that’s not the case. Simply because it would be an unmissable opportunity. No, it wouldn’t even be a step backwards for my career: our league remains one of the best.”

During his time at West Ham, Scamacca has had fitness issues and in the interview, he revealed that he played with a broken meniscus throughout the campaign and very few know about it. After a point, it was not possible for him to continue playing.

“Maybe people don’t know it, but I played all year with a broken meniscus. Then at a certain point it was impossible to continue and I ended up under the knife. Until March, I played 27 games, scored 8 goals. It could have been better, but it could have been even worse. The Conference League win was a great joy for everyone: it was our passion from the beginning of the season. I didn’t play in the final against Fiorentina, it’s true, but of course I feel the Conference is mine. I scored 3 goals in the Cup in 7 games.”

Despite a disappointing first season – which can be attributed to his lack of suitability to David Moyes’ system, Scamacca’s stock remains high in Italy.

Newcastle have moved for brand new target Federico Chiesa and he’s ‘ready to join’ in the biggest boost yet for West Ham’s Harvey Barnes hopes.

We reported on Monday that West Ham were NOT out of the race with Newcastle United for Harvey Barnes.

That was after claims that Newcastle had swooped to beat frontrunners West Ham to Barnes were dismissed out of hand.

Last month journalist Matt Law had claimed West Ham were leading the race for Barnes, but warned Newcastle were also circling.

Both The Telegraph and talkSPORT also claimed West Ham were closing in on the exciting capture of Barnes.

That changed last week with the likes of The Telegraph reporting that the Magpies had all but sealed a deal for the 25-year-old.

Newcastle move for brand new target Federico Chiesa and he’s ‘ready to join’ in biggest boost yet for West Ham’s Harvey Barnes hopes

We reported on Hammers News at the weekend that there was a glimmer of hope for David Moyes with Eddie Howe allegedly making Moussa Diaby his prime target over Barnes.

Then Sky Sports’ north east reporter Keith Downie set the record straight on the situation and made it clear that the Magpies had not yet bid for Barnes.

Now Newcastle have moved for brand new target Federico Chiesa and he’s ‘ready to join’ in the biggest boost yet for West Ham’s Barnes hopes.

Yesterday it was reported Barnes prefers a move to London.

Now Italian outlet La Repubblica claims world class Italian winger Chiesa is the man Howe wants on the left in a deal worth as much as £55m.

Not only that, the report claims Sandro Tonali’s international teammate is ‘ready to start the season with Newcastle’.

The newspaper states ‘new contacts’ have taken place with Juventus who wants to swap their black and white stripes for Newcastle’s.

With Barnes ‘wanting London’ the path is surely clearing for the Hammers

The claims will be music to the ears of West Ham and manager Moyes regarding Barnes.

Chiesa is absolutely world class, as he has proved on the international stage with Italy. And while he can play in a number of positions, his best and preferred role is on the left.

So this move – and the fact Newcastle have reportedly turned attentions to Chiesa – surely clears the path for the Hammers to now get a deal done with Leicester.

West Ham are waiting for the first tranche of money from Declan Rice’s British record £105m move to Arsenal to land.

That should be this week, so West Ham fans will be excited at the prospect of an imminent bid for Barnes.
