Cam Ward Discusses His New Colleagues on the Miami Hurricanes

Which Miami receivers will get along the best with their new QB?

Before spring football 2024 kicks out, quarterback Cam Ward of the Miami Hurricanes, a transfer, has been working out with his new teammates.

After throwing for 3,735 yards with 25 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in his final season at Washington State, the former outstanding quarterback from Washington State enrolled at Miami in January. Though Miami’s official spring practices don’t start until March 4th, throwing sessions and exercises have started since the start of the spring semester.

The Canes Connection NIL group just published a new video in which Ward shared his thoughts on Miami receivers Joshisa “JoJo” Trader, Jacolby George, and Xavier Restrepo.

Ward declared, “Strep (Restrepo) is our dawg.” Jacolby is going to be the driving force behind our success. JoJo, the young guy I’ve been throwing to recently, is a unique player that not many teams in the nation have at that age for a freshman, but I think he will have a significant impact on the team.

Positive first reports have been made about the relationships that Ward is developing with each of the three. Hearing him speak about Trader is astounding, especially considering that JoJo is an early enrolling freshman.

In terms of yardage last season, Restrepo and George were two of the top three receivers in the ACC. Six touchdowns and 1,092 yards were hauled in by Restrepo. George finished third in the league with 864 yards and led the Hurricanes with eight receiving touchdowns. Trader’s senior year at Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna saw him catch 14 touchdowns.

Ward will have a number of weapons in his Miami arsenal in addition to tight ends Riley Williams and Elijah Arroyo, as well as receivers Isaiah Horton, Nathaniel “Ray Ray” Joseph, and Robbie Washington.
