Sunday Offering: Oklahoma Eyeing a Selected Few 2025 Prospects
Following the group’s announcement of their favorite institutions during the last week, the Sooners are in the running for four gifted junior prospects.
In order to advance in the 2025 recruiting class, Brent Venables and crew have been quite active throughout the offseason.
The Sooners just found out they were in the running for many great junior prospects who might strengthen their already strong squad in the next cycle.
OU currently has ten pledges in the 2025 class, the most recent being Bridgeland, Texas’ Ryan Fodje, a 4-star offensive lineman.
The remaining Sooners roster includes the trio of Kevin Sperry, Marcus James, and Trynae Washington from Carl Albert (OK), Owen Hollenbeck, an offensive lineman from Melissa (TX), Alexander Shieldnight, an edge rusher from Wagoner (OK), Jaden Nickens, a wide receiver from Douglass (OK), Elijah Thomas, a wideout from Checotah (OK), Gracen Harris, a pass catcher from Ennis (TX), and Ka’Mori Moore of Lee’s Summit North defensive lineman.
4-star wide receiver Travis Smith revealed his list of the eight best universities on February 11. Oklahoma, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Colorado, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Mississippi were among the colleges he considered.
The 6-foot-4, 195-pound star from Atlanta Westlake (GA) is ranked by On3 as the 74th best overall athlete and eighth best wide receiver in the 2025 class.
Smith would bolster a fantastic collection of wide receivers that already includes three 4-star playmakers. In late January, the Sooners extended an offer to the Lions star.
Four-star edge rusher Darren Ikinnagbon included OU among his top eight schools, along with Georgia, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Duke, Tennessee, Ohio State, and Penn State, three days after Smith revealed his ranking.
Ikinnagbon, who is from Hillside, New Jersey, is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 240 overall player and the No. 24 edge rusher for the 2025 recruiting class. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound star for the Comets would be a valuable acquisition to play on the defensive line with Moore and Shieldnight.
Two Lone Star State athletes revealed their top colleges on Sunday.
Connor Carty, a 4-star offensive lineman from Prosper, Texas, first revealed his top 12, which included Penn State, LSU, Oregon, Texas A&M, Texas, TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Missouri, USC, Texas Tech, and Arkansas.
Carty, who is listed as 6-foot-5 and 290 pounds, is ranked by Rivals as the No. 8 interior offensive lineman and the No. 213 overall recruit in the 2025 class.
Bill Bedenbaugh and associates are scouting many offensive linemen from Prosperity, including Carty. Eagles sophomore tackle Zaden Krempin just earned an offer from the Sooners and is scheduled to visit Norman in March.
Cornerback Cobey Sellers of Shadow Creek, Texas, finally revealed his top six on Sunday. Oklahoma, LSU, Georgia, Texas A&M, Texas, and Oregon made the list.
Sellers has been tipped by On3 and Rivals to pick OU. He visited Norman in January for the Sooners’ Junior Day event.
The outstanding defensive back, who is listed at 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds, is ranked No. 124 overall and No. 17 in the next cycle.
Besides the four prospects that listed Oklahoma as one of their preferred colleges, Venables and colleagues this week presented five prospects for high school.
Atamai Matau, an offensive lineman at St. Francis (CA) in the 2025 class, accepted an offer from Bedenbaugh and associates on Friday.
The quick-rising trench player, who is listed at 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds, has already had offers from other schools, including Georgia, Ohio State, and Penn State.
The Sooners selected linebacker Anthony Jones from St. Paul’s Episcopal (AL), linebacker Kosi Okpala from Mayde Creek (TX), and athlete Amari Sabb from Glassboro (NJ) in the 2026 draft class.
Jones, who is reported as 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, is ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s top linebacker and the sixth best player overall. Sabb is the
OU offered 6-foot-1 athlete Xavier Sabb, the youngest of the Sabb siblings, in the 2027 class. Sabb has already had offers from Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, Mississippi, Penn State, and other schools despite just being a freshman.
