Nottingham Forest are now considering the sale of Brennan Johnson, with the player seemingly holding a desire to leave. Aston Villa are the best-placed club to sign the 22-year-old who is valued at around £40 million.
According to the Daily Mail, the Reds would be willing to do business if an initial fee is made that matches their valuation. It’s also claimed that Johnson has suggested via his representatives that he’d like to leave
Villa are making waves in the transfer market this summer. They’ve geared up for their UEFA Conference League campaign by signing Youri Tielemans from Leicester and Pau Torres from Villarreal.
Forest star Johnson is next on the list for Unai Emery. He’s keen to add another winger to his ranks and the forward is firmly on the radar following an impressive maiden season in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old scored eight times in the top flight for the Reds. Johnson did find himself out of the reckoning a little bit towards the end of the campaign, however, with Forest’s form picking up.
He didn’t start the games against Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal as Forest claimed four points. In fairness, they should have taken something from the game against Liverpool, scoring twice before Johnson was introduced.
Forest now considering Johnson sale
This would be massively disappointing but ultimately, it might be a case of needs must. Forest will have FFP watching over them, whilst Johnson might now have a desire to play European football.
A fee of £40 million does seem cheap. That is one bit of the article that Forest supporters will hope is wrong, given that the same publication previously said that £50 million was Johnson’s valuation.
Still, there is never usually smoke without fire. As a result, Forest now appear to be weighing up the big decision to sell Johnson and the hope will be that a replacement can be sought quickly.
Nottingham Forest could be about to strike devastating blow to West Ham United by signing Ibrahim Sangare this summer.
According to the Athletic, Nottingham Forest have actually made an official offer for West Ham target Ibrahim Sangare
And it’s little wonder as to why David Moyes might want to sign Sangare, with Hammers midfielder Declan Rice set to leave to join Arsenal in the summer transfer window
It seems as though West Ham are dithering yet again though…
Nottingham Forest could be about to strike devastating blow to West Ham by signing Ibrahim Sangare
The Athletic reckon that Forest have made an approach to PSV Eindhoven to sign the Ivory Coast international this summer.
Moyes really should be going all out to sign the PSV star – there will not be any better value for money to be had in the market right now.
Smarter Scout describe Sangare as a ‘special’ player, whilst Foot The Ball label him as a ‘midfield marvel’.
The Ivorian has a €37 million (£32 million) release clause inserted into his current contract with PSV (90Min). What outstanding value that will represent for whichever club wins the race for his signature.
And if Nottingham Forest beat West Ham to the signing of Ibrahim Sangare there will be absolutely no excuses for us as far as I’m concerned.
The 25-year-old is exactly the type of player Moyes should be looking to bring to the London Stadium. If the Hammers sign the Ivorian alongside a top-class out and out defensive midfielder, then there’s no reason why we can’t improve as a team after Declan Rice’s exit.
As things stand though, it seems like Forest are the club making concrete moves to sign him rather than us. What a shame.
