Everton target loan move for Arnaut Danjuma and Anthony Elanga in double transfer news

Everton

Everton are targeting a loan move for Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma, as well as a move for Manchester United’s Anthony Elanga, according to Patrick Boyland and David Ornstein via The Athletic.

The Merseyside club could reignite their interest in Danjuma, after the dramatic events of January’s transfer deadline day which saw the winger make a last-minute U-turn to join Tottenham after he was expected to arrive at Finch Farm.

That is clear water under the bridge now, as The Athletic report Everton are interested in bringing Danjuma in on a temporary move, as well as pursuing a deal for Manchester United’s Elanga, after missing out on early transfer target Rodrigo from Leeds United.

Any anger that Evertonians – both the club and the fans – held towards Danjuma for his deadline-day antics may have to be quickly forgiven as he is one of the club’s targets to strengthen the forward area. He would be an excellent addition to this Everton squad and should be welcomed with open arms.

Danjuma’s spell in North London may not have gone completely how he’d hoped, after making just nine appearances in the Premier League, largely from the bench, and scoring just one goal. He would have, and would still be the main man at Goodison Park.

The last full season Danjuma spent with a club was in 2021/22 with Villarreal, where the forward scored 16 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions. If he can hit those types of numbers with Everton, he would be worth every penny they spend to bring him in.

His versatility and ability to play as a striker or on either wing would be valuable in this Everton squad which is lacking depth in forward areas.
