Eminem just dropped his new track, Houdini, and it’s drawn various reactions. Some enjoyed it, considering how the song’s theme centers around the rapper’s famous alter ego, Slim Shady. Others, however, weren’t on board with certain portions of the lyrics. Nevertheless, Eminem’s supporters number greatly, and one of them is LeBron James. The Los Angeles Lakers star put out an X post that clearly shows how he feels about the new track.

For those who grew up listening to the rapper during his Slim Shady Era, Houdini brings back memories. First off, Eminem didn’t hold back with the lyrics. From his references to Megan Thee Stallion and R. Kelly, to making fun of cancel culture, Slim Shady was definitely back to his old ways. In fact, plenty of Megan Thee Stallion fans were upset that Eminem referenced her shooting incident with Tory Lanez.

Secondly, there’s the music video. Eminem decided to portray visuals that referenced his old music videos, particularly those of the songs “Without Me” and “The Real Slim Shady.” For a huge part of the MV, he was once again wearing a Robin costume while riding in a Lamborghini with Dr. Dre. There were also other Slim Shady lookalikes present in some of the clips, adding to the nostalgia.

All in all, it was a trip down memory lane for old-school rap fans, and that’s just one song from his upcoming album. Eminem will be releasing “The Death of Slim Shady” in the near future, and it’s surely bound to have more gasp-inducing lyrics. To be fair, isn’t that what Slim Shady is all about?

Throughout the years, Eminem’s wordplay has brought in backash time and time again. Considering some of the outrageous things he’s said, it’s not surprising. Regardless, his “Slim Shady” persona — the character that arguably gave rise to his career — has found a soft spot among plenty of the rap fandom, LeBron James included.

And speaking of LeBron James, he’s been vocal about recent developments in the rap industry as of late. The Lakers star also sent out a post that praised both Drake and Kendrick Lamar while both were at the height of their beef more than a month ago.
