Russell Wilson will find out if he still has any playing time with the Pittsburgh Steelers after the Denver Broncos severed their relationship with him prior to the 2024 NFL season. To be honest, when the Denver Broncos made a trade for Russell Wilson in the 2022 NFL Offseason, the whole fan base was relieved.
The squad appeared to have acquired a quarterback at last, but everyone was aware of the outcome of that season. Though things improved in 2023, Wilson and the Broncos were ultimately an incompatible combination. The veteran quarterback has now committed to a veteran minimum deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, his third team in four years.
I hope supporters of the Steelers don’t fall for this ruse. You would realize that the offense was a shell of a team that did not regularly play well if you saw Russell Wilson in 2023. Wilson did not throw in the intermediate range or over the center of the field; he was just not a rhythmic player.
It was just not feasible to continue playing ineffectively for the next forty-five minutes and then need a late comeback to win. The offensive line in Pittsburgh is not as strong as it was for the Broncos in 2023, and the coaching staff is unquestionably worse.
The Steelers may have a difficult season, but at least Russell Wilson is taking this new chapter head-on. The quarterback’s devotion to the game and his profession cannot be criticized. But in the end, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Russell Wilson could end up in ruins.
Additionally, the new quarterback for the Steelers has given the team’s supporters some misplaced optimism for the 2024 NFL season.
