The Indiana Pacers dominated the New York Knicks 130-109 in Game 7, leaving little question.
Their 21-point victory at Madison Square Garden ranked as Game 7’s fourth-biggest road victory ever.
The Pacers shot 67.1%, the best field goal percentage in any NBA playoff game, behind 26 points by Tyrese Haliburton. Indiana became the first team since 1987 to have five players score more than 15 points in a Game 7 with six players scoring in double figures.
The Pacers now hold a 5-3 advantage in the all-time postseason series with the Knicks.
The intensity of the Game 7 environment in New York and the clubs’ legendary postseason history elevated the stakes, and the social media trolling that followed the game upheld that level.
In keeping with the team’s domination on the court, Indiana’s congratulatory posts included tributes to Spike Lee, Reggie Miller, and other notable figures.
At the break, Indiana led 70-55 and had never looked back. In the first half, the Pacers shot 19 out of 25 (including 7 of 11 on 3-pointers) off passes. They are the first team since the San Antonio Spurs in 2014 to shoot at least 75% in the opening two quarters of a game, whether it be in the regular season or the playoffs.
