Nottingham Forest have held talks about £16m-rated Coventry City midfielder Gustavo Hamer, it has been claimed.

The 26-year-old is attracting interest from the Premier League after an outstanding campaign under Mark Robins last year. He scored 11 goals and contributed with 10 assists in 41 games in all competitions as the Sky Blues reached the Championship play-off final.

With City missing out on Premier League promotion in a play-off penalty shootout defeat, Hamer has become another player linked with an exit following Viktor Gyokeres’ £20m switch to Sporting Lisbon.

According to TEAMtalk, he is also the subject of interest from promoted Burnley – it is said the Brazilian impressed Claret’s boss Vincent Kompany while playing against his team last season – and Fulham

It is claimed all three clubs have held talks about a deal for the midfielder. Hamer has 12 months left on his contract and is reported to be available for around £16m.

Nottingham Forest supporters have been quick to criticise the price of their team’s new kit for the 2023/24 campaign.. The reaction to the kit, launched at Nottingham Castle last night, has been predominantly negative.

Adidas are the kit manufacturers, echoing the club’s glory years under Brian Clough, but replica shirts will cost supporters £75, a significant step up from last year. This has not gone un-noticed by fans, especially as season ticket prices have also increased at the City Ground

.However, there has been some positivity. Some supporters like the simplicity of the design, which still carries no sponsor’s name, although whether they will actually buy it remains unclear.

Is this Adidas or Stone Island? £75 for a football shirt, are you ok?

£75 for what looks like a training top. Adidas really aren’t bothered are they? £75 for the template. Think I’ll re-use the same shirt from the 2013/14 season – no one will tell the difference

Give us a sponsor. You have to be realistic here, £75 for any football shirt is just not right. Doesn’t matter if you’re a millionaire or one of the millions fighting to put food on the table. Even if it was a design especially made for the club (which it isn’t) it should never push over £50-£60

 This looks slightly better.

A nice, plain, ordinary-looking home kit. There are plenty of teams who should take note there. Good work Forest.

It looks a little bit better.

Jonjo Shelvey had no idea what to expect when joining his new team-mates on their pre-season tour – but even the manager didn’t mind the antics

A night out before the day of the match, a smoking team-mate and a manager who didn’t mind – Jonjo Shelvey had a fun start to life at Swansea.

The 31-year-old, who joined Swansea from Liverpool in 2013 before spells at Newcastle and now Nottingham Forest, met his new colleagues on a pre-season tour back in the summer of 2013.

Shelvey had nerves when meeting the likes of Ashley Williams and Gary Monk, but he was swiftly welcomed into their South Wales family.

Shelvey told the Studs Up Podcast in 2021: “Going from Liverpool to Swansea was such a big culture shock in terms of how things are run. I bought my own plane ticket to meet up with the team during pre-season in Holland. They were flying that day and I was signing the same day.”

“I get to the hotel and it’s nerve-racking going into a new team with people you don’t know. I get to the lunch table and Ashley Williams just goes to me ‘You coming out tonight?’.

“Obviously in Amsterdam, and I’m like: ‘This is my first day at the club’. So they’ve all obviously gone out but there’s a game the next day.

“A pre-season friendly. But it was one of those hotels where you could get dropped off in the car park down the bottom in the lift. I got the bus and I found out the next day it was Garry Monk and Ashley Williams.

“Ash has got all leopard print facepaint from when he’s been out and he’s going up in the lift. Laudrup’s going down for brekkie on the day of the game.

“Laudrup just goes to him: ‘Good night was it?’ At Liverpool that just doesn’t happen.”

Shelvey also explained what it was like to room with veteran keeper Gerhard Tremmel – who he claims to have seen smoking on the balcony.

He said: “I’m not into smoking or things like that, but he’s smoking on the balcony and then he’s come back into the room and he’s gone: ‘Jonjo, what is the capacity at Anfield?’

“And I’m just like: ‘How the f*** am I supposed to know that?”

Shelvey, who joined Forest last summer, is now preparing for his 17th season as a professional, 12 of which have been in the Premier League.
