The East London outfit are trying hard to sign the 30-year-old on loan, but Man United would prefer a permanent sale.

Hammers boss David Moyes definitely needs to add a top-class centre-back to his ranks at the London Stadium in the summer transfer window.

And as far as I’m concerned, Maguire would be absolutely perfect for us…

GiveMeSport reckon that Erik ten Hag is desperate to get the 57-capped England international out of Old Trafford this summer.

Let’s hope that Moyes really pushes to bring him to the London Stadium now.

He has been an absolute man mountain when playing for England over the past few years but has been the target of heavy criticism for some of his displays for Man United.

His struggles with the Red Devils have been exacerbated by his lack of pace, and the fact that they play a really high defensive line.

Conversely, West Ham set up with a really deep defensive line, and I think Harry Maguire would flourish with us, just like he did at Leicester.

Maguire’s teammate Luke Shaw described him as ‘unbelievable’ recently (The Mirror), and on his day I firmly believe that he’s one of the very best around.

Man United allegedly want to sign around £35 million for Maguire. That sounds a little steep to me given his age, but if Moyes can pick him up for closer to £25 million, I think that will be a deal that the Scot definitely should pursue.

But with Maguire needing to feature regularly this coming campaign to cement his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024, the Hammers – whose coffers have been boosted by the sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal – are planning to see whether the offer of regular first-team football at the London Stadium could tempt the 30-year-old into a move.
