Liverpool exploring move for Crystal Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure

Liverpool are actively exploring the possibility of signing Cheick Doucoure as they prepare for the potential departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, who are attracting interest from Saudi Arabia.

That is according to Football Insider via Liverpool ECHO. The outlet indicates that Liverpool’s recruitment team has identified the 23-year-old midfielder as a player of interest and someone who could potentially fill the void left by Fabinho’s departure.

Doucoure, who joined Crystal Palace from Lens last summer in a £21m deal, has impressed with his performances and caught the attention of Liverpool’s scouting department.

Doucoure’s qualities and abilities seem to align with the style of play Jurgen Klopp seeks in his players. The French midfielder possesses a blend of defensive solidity, technical prowess, and physicality that could make him an ideal replacement for Fabinho.

The Mali international has also played a few games as a centre-back, and his versatility is something that could prove to be extremely valuable for Liverpool. In 34 league appearances for the Eagles, he has three assists to his name.

While Doucoure is relatively young and may need time to adapt to the demands of playing for a club of Liverpool’s stature, the Reds have a proven track record of nurturing and developing young talents into world-class performers as was the case with Fabinho when he moved to the Reds.

While no official offer has been made or negotiations confirmed, Liverpool’s speculated interest in Doucoure signifies their desire to secure quality reinforcements for their midfield.

The dynamic and evolving nature of modern football necessitates constant assessment and also, adaptation to ensure sustained success. It’s also not a necessity to shop amongst the giants of Europe — scouting talented players from midtable teams has its own benefits, especially financially.

Should Doucoure join Liverpool, he would have the opportunity to work under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp and alongside a talented group of players. The club’s renowned coaching staff could further enhance his development, enabling him to reach his full potential and contribute significantly to the team’s ambitions.

Arsenal have spent around £200million this summer already and now they look set to make another major sale after cashing in on Granit Xhaka.

According to journalist and friend of Fresh Arsenal, James Benge, a bid of over £30million has been made by Inter Milan for Folarin Balogun, but due to Premier League interest, Arsenal are likely to take their time and hope a bidding war emerges.

A Premier League-based bidding war would be great for Arsenal. Balogun is just 22 and following a brilliant season in France, his value is very high right now. Mikel Arteta has taken him on the clubs tour of the US this week, but there could be commercial reasons for such a move.

The reality is Balogun has a desire to go and play every week and Arteta cannot give him those guarantees. In similar situations, Arsenal have opted to sell players. Balogun has two years left on his deal and with no talk of a new contract, it all seems to be pointing towards a sale, allowing Balogun his chance to play first-team football and Arsenal an opportunity to sell a player whilst his value is high.

It would be great if Arsenal could make a good sum from this sale, especially when he was widely expected to leave for free two years ago when his last contract expired.

But an excellent loan deal at Reims last season has allowed for Arsenal to suddenly have a much higher-value asset.

Inter Milan’s offer north of £30million is not bad, but Arsenal will hope given the interest in the player and the age and form, they can extract more from this asset. Arsenal are aware that the likes of Brighton and West Ham need a striker and they know that both clubs have lots of money following recent big-money sales.

Crystal Palace are another club keen to add a number nine to their ranks to help take their side to the next level. If a couple of these clubs do place a bid, Arsenal will hope the bidding moves in excess of £40million.

Such a sale could allow for Arsenal to invest in the market again. Mikel Arteta still seems keen to add another dynamic forward to his ranks and with the likes of Nicolas Pepe, Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey potentially leaving, too, funds could be available for another statement signing before the summer is over.
