Aston Villa Almost In Agreement With Club, Want Quick Deal For Player But Rivals Lurk

Aston Villa are almost in agreement with Bayer Leverkusen  about a fee for Moussa Diaby, but Al Nassr continue to lurk.

Villa boss Unai Emery is keen to land the France international winger and the Midlands side have been holding talks with Leverkusen to get the job done.

Al Nassr are also keen and have put a lucrative proposal to Diaby to make the move to Saudi Arabia this summer.

Aston Villa are not being put off and, according to French radio station RMC, they have now almost reached an agreement with Leverkusen on a fee.

The total on the table is around €50m including add-ons.

Al Nassr are expected to come back in with another bid after seeing a first offer rejected; then Diaby will quickly make up his mind about what he wants to do.

Villa are claimed to be keen to complete a move to sign Diaby quickly.

It remains to be seen if Aston Villa can convince the winger to snub the offer of a lifetime from Saudi Arabia to move to Birmingham.

Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr have reportedly “improved their proposal” for Aston Villa transfer target Moussa Diaby as the race for the winger hots up.

The 24-year-old has emerged as a prime target for Unai Emery this summer as he looks to add to the wide areas of his squad. The club saw their first offer rejected by Bayer Leverkusen, but are said to have returned with a second bid worth around £42million.

The latest update suggests that Villa is the player’s preferred destination this summer. But it seems that the Saudi side are not giving up hope of completing a deal for Diaby.

Taking to Twitter, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has given the latest in the race for the Frenchman. “Al Nassr have improved their proposal for Moussa Diaby,” he wrote.

“Negotiations on as Aston Villa also submitted second bid on Tuesday. Al Nassr are pushing to convince the player after his green light to Villa.”

Emery is keen to add to the attacking areas of his squad in this transfer window as Villa prepare for a season that will include European football. The club have completed the summer captures of midfielder Youri Tielemans and defender Pau Torres so far.

If a deal for Diaby doesn’t materialise, then Villa are said to have Rennes winger Jeremy Doku as a back-up option. The 21-year-old scored six goals and provided two assists in 29 Ligue 1 appearances last season.

In comparison, Diaby scored nine times and provided nine assists in 33 Bundesliga games last season. The Frenchman is however three years older than Doku.

Villa have shown their intent ahead of the new season with the big-money signing of Pau Torres, and the canny free signing of Youri Tielemans.

There’s also the small matter of a European campaign as Villa prepare to battle with other teams from abroad.

The aim is simple, to finish the highest they have done for some time in the Premier League, and to compete for trophies.

There are exciting visions on and off the field at Villa and this season is the perfect time to realise some of the club’s ambitions.
