Nottingham Forest will have to pay more than £10m to sign ‘special’ 22-year-old
According to The Athletic, Forest do hold an interest in Hudson-Odoi this summer. The player knows all about working under Steve Cooper after he helped the England under-17s win the World Cup in 2017.
The 22-year-old has found regular football hard to come by at Stamford Bridge. Last season, he found himself moved out on loan to Bayer Leverkusen and that move didn’t work out either.
Hudson-Odoi didn’t really impress Xabi Alonso enough to force his way into the team on a frequent basis. He made just 21 appearances, scoring one goal and registering as single assist.
Given that things aren’t really working out, Hudson-Odoi must choose his next club carefully, with Forest in his thoughts. He won’t want to go to a club that sees him as a backup option and that’s where Cooper could help.
The Forest head coach is a quality man-manager. He knows what players need to perform to the best of their ability and he will fancy a crack at trying to get more out of Hudson-Odoi.
Chelsea thought they had a really big talent when he first came through the ranks. Some really big clubs showed an interest a few years ago, but Hudson-Odoi stayed loyal to the Blues.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, he’s made 126 appearances, scoring 16 goals and claiming 22 assists. Now, his days at Chelsea look to be numbered and Forest are keen to pounce.
Hudson-Odoi still on list of targets at Forest
It’s been claimed in the latest report roughly much Forest believe that Hudson-Odoi will cost. They suggest that it will take upward of £10 million in order to bring the winger who can play on both sides to the City Ground.
Frank Lampard is a huge fan of Hudson-Odoi. Back in 2019, he called the tricky performer ‘special’ after an emphatic win over Newcastle, in which the player had once again produced a big performance.
Forest would love to sign Hudson-Odoi this summer but they won’t be on their own in the race. Fulham were claimed to be interested in signing him, whilst other clubs will no doubt fancy taking him on.
The Reds might have an ace up their sleeve, however. Hudson-Odoi knows he needs one manager to take him under his wing to get him back to his best and that might just be Forest boss Cooper.

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s desire to stay in London has given Fulham the edge over Nottingham Forest in their pursuit of the Chelsea winger, according to The Athletic.
The 22-year-old winger has not travelled with the Chelsea squad to the United States as he seeks to move on from Stamford Bridge this summer.
Chelsea are keen to move him off their wage bill and with only a year left on his contract, they are keen to secure a fee from his sale in the ongoing transfer window.
Nottingham Forest are interested in signing the winger this summer with Fulham also said to be keen on taking him to Craven Cottage ahead of the new season.
And it has been claimed that a desire to stay in London is likely to help Fulham in their bid to sign Hudson-Odoi.
The importance of being in the English capital has already helped Fulham to beat Nottingham Forest to the signature of Willian despite offering a shorter contract on less money.
The Chelsea winger is also claimed to be keen on staying in London even after he leaves Stamford Bridge.
And it seems Nottingham Forest could be set to lose out one more target to Fulham due to geographical reasons, unless they can convince him to snub a stay in the capital.
