West Ham United reportedly want to sign Arsenal target Elye Wahi from Montpellier this summer.

According to a report from 90 Min, Montpellier striker Elye Wahi is firmly on the radar of West Ham this summer, although Arsenal want to sign him as well, and he is keen on a move to the Emirates according to The Evening Standard.

Michail Antonio is being heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia (90 Min), whilst Gianluca Scamacca could return to his homeland to join Roma.

Wahi would be an incredibly exciting addition for West Ham. Can we really beat Arsenal to his signature though? I think there’s every chance that we will be able to do exactly that…

90 Min reckon that the Hammers could try to sign the 20-year-old Montpellier forward this summer.

Now this really is an exciting link…let’s just hope that there is some truth to it. And I believe we could hold the upper hand on the Gunners because Wahi will be given far more opportunities to play regularly at the London Stadium than he will at the Emirates.

With Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nkeitah and maybe even Folarin Balogun at Arsenal, the 20-year-old’s path to the first-team will be severely blocked.

He is a centre-forward by trade but can play out on the wing as well if need be.

Described by Transfermarkt as ‘incredible’, Wahi has absolutely everything needed to go on and become a huge star in the game.

RMC Sport claim that the Frenchman is available for around €32 million (£28 million) this summer. That sounds like incredible value to me, considering his outstanding potential.

He has blistering pace and is a very good finisher, as well as being a competent provider for his teammates. Last season, he bagged 19 goals and six assists in 33 Ligue 1games for Montpellier (Transfermarkt).

Can you imagine the prospect of a front three of Carlos Borges, Wahi and Jarrod Bowen!

And if West Ham manage to beat Arsenal to the signing of Elye Wahi this summer, I think it would be a really big statement.

West Ham saw a verbal bid for Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse rejected earlier in the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The 28-year-old is a long-term target for the Irons and they are keen to wrap up his arrival after losing their own skipper, Declan Rice, to Arsenal last week.

Ward-Prowse has scored 17 career Premier League free-kicks and now trails David Beckham’s all-time record by just one goal.

His contract at St Mary’s Stadium is set to run until June 2026.

The midfielder has returned to pre-season training on the south coast, taking part in friendlies against Benfica and Goztepe.
