Bournemouth target confirms he would like to “maybe change scenery” – Transfer very much a possibility

Real Valladolid forward Gonzalo Plata has confirmed he would like to leave the club this summer, amid reported interest from Bournemouth.

Plata has been speaking to Marca 90 in his homeland, relayed by El Norte de Castilla, during which the subject of his future was brought up.

He’s been with the side since initially joining them on loan from Sporting Club de Portugal in August 2021, with the move being made permanent in July last year for €3m.

However, he’s been linked with a move away this summer following the Spanish side’s

relegation from La Liga.

Reports have linked Bournemouth with a potential bid, with a report stating that Plata had asked Valladolid to sanction a transfer followed by further claims in South America.

That has obviously been picked up on in his homeland, with the prospect of a transfer to the richest and biggest league in the world naturally something that cannot be ignored.

Thus, Plata was asked about his future and while he had nothing to say about Bournemouth specifically, he made it clear he would like to secure himself a transfer this summer.

“I couldn’t tell you, that’s the truth,” he said.

“Obviously, I would like to continue growing in football, as it were. Maybe change scenery. Fly as we have been doing.

“I would like to stay in Spain, play in the first division in Spain, but so far nothing is clear. Nothing is said yet. It remains to wait until the transfer market closes, to see what the future holds for me.”

Eddie Howe may have remained coy over Newcastle United transfers this week but the rumour mill surrounding St James’ Park is very much firing on all cylinders.

The club seem on the verge of announcing the arrival of Harvey Barnes from Leicester City as Allan Saint-Maximin appears to be on his way out of St James’ Park.

Summer spending may not end there as we take a look at the latest transfer rumours on Thursday morning.

Newcastle United have supposedly ‘tabled’ a huge £50 million offer for another midfielder, just weeks after splurging £55 million on Sandro Tonali from AC Milan.

Stamford Bridge star Conor Gallagher has been linked with a move to Tyneside in recent months and transfer-loving journalist Dean Jones has claimed that could still very well happen.

The England international was a bright spark for Chelsea at times last year in an at times dismal season, although his three goals and one assist are perhaps not statistics that will overexcite Magpies fans.

Speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Jones said: “Conor Gallagher has been linked to West Ham. He is a name that has been thrown in there, my information on Gallagher is that he doesn’t want to leave Chelsea at all, but if he has to leave he will consider it. Everton and Newcastle both have tabled offers, he is very aware of what he would get if he went to either of those clubs.”

AFC Bournemouth are in discussions with out-of-favour Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow over a move to the South Coast.

The 32-year-old seems to have been ousted by Loris Karius as the Magpies’ number two with Nick Pope secure as the first-choice shot-stopper. As a result, should Darlow want frequent football, his future is away from St James’ Park.

A reported £40m deal for the 25-year-old, who hasn’t featured for the Foxes in their pre-season campaign to date, could be completed quickly – giving him the chance to adapt to Howe’s style of play and fitness demands.

The arrival of Sandro Tonali and expected signing of Barnes means the club will have strengthened their midfield and forward options. Now attention must turn to the back line and adding depth to their defence.

Southampton’s Tino Livramento is a player of interest to the club, but the Saints are holding firm in their valuation of the defender. The 20-year-old returned from a long-term absence at the end of last season and although he hasn’t played much football in over a year, hopes are high that he can get fit and remind everyone why there was so much hype about his future this time last year.

A right-back by trade, the England Under-21 international would add good depth to the defence and with rumours surrounding the permanent future of Javi Manquillo and interest from the Championship in Harrison Ashby, that is an area of the pitch they may have to strengthen this summer.

Newcastle are looking for options at centre-back and at left-back this summer. The need to balance Premier League and Champions League football next season means the club must add bodies to Howe’s squad as rotation will become vitally important next term.

A variety of players like Kieran Tierney, Antonee Robinson, Axel Disasi, Goncalo Inacio, Marc Guehi and Marc Cucurella have all been linked with signing for Newcastle this summer, showing the wide scope of potential options the club will look at ahead of the deadline on September 1.
