Jamie Vardy REJECTS move to Saudi Arabia after interest from Khajeel FC and others with 36-year-old Leicester striker deciding Middle East move wasn’t right for his family
Leicester striker Jamie Vardy has rejected a move to Saudi Arabia.
The 36-year-old was approached by several clubs, including Khajeel FC, but doesn’t consider a move to the Middle East to be the right one for him and his family.
The former England striker scored six goals in all competitions last season as Leicester suffered relegation from the Premier League.
He has one year remaining on his current contract at the King Power Stadium but had been identified by numerous Saudi Pro League clubs as a big-name signing.
Vardy featured in all but one of Leicester’s 38 Premier League games last season, starting 19 of them, and scored three league goals.
But they were relegated to the Championship on the final day despite a 2-1 win over West Ham.
It remains to be seen whether Vardy features in the plans of new Foxes manager Enzo Maresca.
A number of high-profile players have agreed moves to Saudi Arabian clubs so far this summer.
Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy became the latest when he left Chelsea to join Al-Ahli tis week, following his former Blues team-mates Kalidou Koulibaly and N’Golo Kante to the Gulf state.
Midfielder Kante has signed for champions Al-Ittihad, joining the former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

Ruben Neves has also moved to Al-Hilal from Wolves in a £47million deal.
However, Hakim Ziyech’s move from Chelsea to Al-Nassr is reportedly in doubt after his medical highlighted a knee issue.
